Optimize Your Images and Graphics For A Better SEO Search Return Ranking
Graphics and photos provide an important means to add to a successful SEO campaign. Google and Yahoo images are an important way to drive traffic to your site. How does that happen? It has been my experience that naming your graphics and photographs with keyword rich names will help your website or blog be found.
As an example take a look at www.taylorsconcretecutting.com. This website has been optimized to reach a regional audience that is seeking concrete cutting services. If you run your mouse over the images and photographs on that website you will see the “alt” tags pop up with site related keywords. (please not the alt tags do not show up in Firefox…. you will need to switch to IE) Even if you cannot see the “alt” tags with a mouseover, the search engine spiders see them and those keywords add to your optimization efforts. The graphics on the page including the header graphic and the logos are named with keywords which can be seen by right clicking the images and then clicking on the properties tab. The name of the graphics will show up. Just like the “alt” tags, the search engine spiders will also see these keyword rich names.
Doing a search for these keywords in Google images will result in these images showing up with a direct link to the website. In essence you have created a secondary doorway to your site by properly naming your graphics and images.
