It looks like Shoemoney.com has a new look and I am diggin’ it. Nice and crisp, neat and orderly. That appeals to my military background. Even though it has a similar look, it is much cleaner and doesn’t look at all cluttered. Good job to the guys at Unique Blog Designs.

I have been seeing a lot of recommendations lately on link building and thought I would add something I think is very important to the mix. If you are like me you have received the canned email asking for a link exchange as well as some that are obviously written on a site by site basis. The one thing that is always the same it the please email me line at the end of the request. As somebody who is serious about setting up a link exchange I go a step further. I always include my phone number in my request and I let the other person know that they can call me at any time to speak with me and to ask any questions.
I have had good results with this method. Some conversations turn into more than just simple link exchanges as we both find way to further help each other. This is especially true if the two sites are in the same industry but not in direct competition. Some conversations reveal that the link exchange might not be a good idea after all….. but in the end if nothing else you have established a better relationship with another webmaster and that may pay off down the road on a different project.
In conclusion I highly recommend adding your phone number to your link exchange requests and invite the other party to call you at their convenience to discuss both sites, link exchanges and other ways to help promote each other.
If you have done this and found it helpful I would like to hear about it……thanks
SEO of a website is very important but it won’t increase your web sales. What an effective SEO campaign will do is give you the opportunity to make more sales, but just because you have more visitors now doesn’t necessarily mean your sales are going to increase. Increased sales on your website is a result of having a site that provides the visitor with an easy solution to what they are seeking whether it is a product or a service. I have done SEO work on several websites that are at the top of the search engines but because they don’t have a solution for what the visitor needs they are not generating any sales. Yes they have the proper keywords, the right site structure to make it easy for the search engines and they have multiple pages that rank well for different searches, but they do not enought information to make a decision to buy and they do not have a call to action.
If you are going to make money online you need to understand that there are many factors in play that include SEO, design, color, answers to questions, a means to make an online transaction and much more. I have found this out the hard way. I have a site that gets approx 500 unique visitors a day. At it’s peak several months ago it was getting almost 2000 uniques a day but I was lucky to see one whole dollar of revenue. Why, becuase I didn’t take into account that most Hannah Montana fans are under the age of 18 and do not have online buying power. It is a classic case of a popular site with lots of traffic but no one can do anything. That is just one example. I say all of this so the next time I plan out my website and SEO campaign I make sure I have the right market, the right info an the right transaction mechanism.

DSN3G.com launched and submitted to Google of Aug 5th now at number 5 and 14 for primary search terms. I was searching for this recently developed site and was really suprised to see it pop in on Google.com at number 5 for the search term “Cellular Based Digital Signage” and number 14 for the search term “Cellular Digital Signs” which are two of my primary search terms for this seo challenge.
Will have to wait and see if this is a fluke. I have never had a website pop in the search engines that high that quickly.
Here is a screen shot of the ranking for number 14. I am curious if this is just on one google server or across the board. If anyone searches for the term “Cellular Digital Signs” and finds something different I would like to hear about it…..
